Time to make Valentine's Day cards and show your friends and lovers your true feelings
I recently went down a fabulous internet rabbit hole of Vintage Valentine’s Day cards. So many silly puns and elaborate poems! Not only did I find Valentine vegetables and flirtatious bears with dynamite, I also discovered a wonderful rejection card. Turns out, lemons are a sign of disappointing experiences. I think these anti-valentine lemon cards should be a replacement for the current default of ghosting an unwanted date, don’t you?
As kids, we used to send our own valentine’s cards to people. I usually made mine, because I wasn’t the biggest fan of the default Disney or Spiderman-themed cards. Though I might have made an exception for the Ninja Turtles.
So, following my childhood rule of heart-felt, personalized Valentine’s cards - let’s make our own!

Prompt: Make a Valentine!
Step 1: Come up with a good pun (or a poem)
This is essential. This will determine everything about what your card is going to look like. Get corny. Get silly. Refer to your potential rejection and plead your Valentine to accept you. Look at a household item and think of how you could make a romantic pun out of it. I dare you. If you’d rather tell someone they were a sour experience, opt for a lemon-themed card.
Step 2: Illustrate your card
Take some inspiration from this Vintage Valentine collection on Flickr. Try to add all sorts of hearts.
Step 3: Cut it out
Some of the best Valentines are custom cut, I think it adds some extra pizazz.
Step 4: Send your card to your beloved (or beloathed)
Consider being a secret admirer, or profess your love openly like the brazen romantic you are!
