I fondly remember getting little zines from my friends during my wonderfully creative high school years. A couple of years ago, I received a New Year zine from a friend and Draw-la-la regular (the artist behind the Kingdom of No) that still sits tucked in my sketchbook of that year.

There’s something about zines that is inherently counter-cultural, especially in the time of AI when crafting something by hand becomes an act of resistance. I’ve been obsessing over them recently. I’ve also been browsing and dreaming about my future home (dream features include: a bathtub, a large kitchen, a dining table fit for boardgames and found-family dinners, ideally near or in my current neighbourhood).
So let’s mix these two obsessions to make something new! Like our favourite game in the Draw-la-la events where we roll dice to mash two prompts into something new. House + Zine = a charming little folding house.
Here’s mine!

It was very cute and fun to draw. A bit like designing a tiny floor plan!

Stuck for Ideas?
What if… this house is haunted?
What if… an alien lives here?
What if… this is your dream home?
What if… a mouse lives here?
What if… this is a little bakery?
What if… these are the four chambers of your heart <3?
Upcoming Event
Next Thursday @culturehub_rotterdam (19:00–22:00), I’ll be hosting a drawing event for all skill levels to unwind and get creative. We’ll be making little paper houses—or just drawing from prompts, if that’s more your style.
Come by anytime, bring a friend, and make something magical.❤️
we loved seeing everyone's creations from candy home to tidy home :)
